One of 1000 copies designed and printed by Graham Macintosh. Affixed to the first leaf is a label inscribed and decorated by Meltzer, “One of One / Variant / the Rare Error / Numbered / Signed / By the Author / Under God / In Cold Dawn Chill / 1 / David Meltzer.” The error referred to are two facing pages that were printed without ink. Meltzer has dated (7 Nov 68) and INSCRIBED these pages to Jack Shoemaker with drawings in five colors.

Meltzer had decorated with front cover with text and drawings in two colors, and added a design to the rear cover. Penned beneath the printed colophon statement in Meltzer’s hand, “5/6 - the suck white / paper wrapper edition / hand-illuminated by the / author - 2.22.79 / David Meltzer.” Finally, this copy is dated (22 Feb 79) and warmly INSCRIBED by Meltzer in two colors to close friends.
